Getting started

Is Fetch free?

Yes. The Fetch plugin for Revit and every family in it are free. Fetch is built by Southwest Solutions Group (SSG), and every family in it is an SSG product. We make money when firms buy those products for their projects, so it pays us to make them easy to design with.

How do I install Fetch?

Create a free account, run the installer and sign in from Revit. It takes about five minutes. See Install Fetch.

What versions of Revit does Fetch support?

Fetch works with Revit 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 on Windows. One install covers every supported version on your computer. See Use Fetch with more than one Revit version.

Does Fetch work on a Mac?

Not directly. Fetch runs inside Revit, and Revit runs only on Windows.

Why do I need an account?

One free account signs you in to fetchbim.com and the Fetch plugin. It lets us tell you when families you use are updated, and shows us which content to build next.

I didn’t get a confirmation email when I registered. What do I do?

Search your inbox, including spam, junk and quarantine, for “Welcome to Fetch”. If it isn’t there, email support@fetchbim.com or use the contact form and we’ll resend it. See Didn’t get the confirmation email.

Can IT deploy Fetch for everyone in our firm?

Yes. Deploy Fetch for your team covers what IT and BIM managers need. For silent installs, managed deployment or a security questionnaire, contact us.

Fetch doesn’t show up in Revit. What do I do?

See Fetch won’t load in Revit, or keeps asking you to sign in for the usual causes and fixes.

Using Fetch

Does Fetch require internet access?

Yes, to browse, insert, sync and update families. Families you’ve already placed are saved in your Revit project, so they keep working offline.

How do I know if there is an update for a family?

Fetch tells you in Revit. When the content team improves a family in your project, the Project tab shows an update badge and the family’s card gets a red exclamation mark. See Update families.

Our firm has its own naming standards. Will Fetch rename our families?

Only if you choose to. “Sync only parameters” updates product data and never touches your family or type names. “Sync parameters and names” also renames families and types to the Fetch naming standard. See Sync product data.

If I add a model group to my project, can I change it?

Yes. Model groups are typical layouts that get you into data-driven design quickly. Add, move or delete anything in them to fit your project. See Model groups.

Can I download families without the plugin?

Yes. Each family on fetchbim.com is listed once per Revit version. Download the file for the version you’ll open it in, because Revit can’t open a family saved in a newer version. Browse all families.

Content

What products are in Fetch?

Revit families for SSG storage and furniture products, including casework, lockers, retrieval systems, shelving, workstations and seating, plus model groups that combine them into typical layouts. Browse by product type.

Our firm doesn’t use Revit. Do you have models for our software?

Not yet. Fetch content is built for Revit. Tell us what you use, which helps us decide what to support next.

Will Fetch families slow down my project?

They’re built not to. Every family is checked before it’s published, including file size, plan geometry hidden where it should be, and levels of detail. See How Fetch families are built and tested.

What is 5D BIM? How does pricing work in Fetch families?

5D BIM adds time (4D) and cost (5D) to a 3D model. Fetch families carry budget pricing that follows the size and options you choose, so you can see what a design costs while you work. Prices are list prices for early budgeting. For a formal quote, contact our sales team. To list prices for every Fetch family in a project, see Add a master schedule.

Requests and help

Can Fetch create a family, model group, schedule or tag for my project?

Yes. Request it through the contact form with the product or content you need. Most requests are done within a few business days.

Our firm is designing a space with storage. Can you help?

Yes. Send us your file and we’ll lay out the storage for you, or refine a layout you’ve started. Reach the team through the contact form.

Can you work with us in Autodesk Construction Cloud (Autodesk Forma)?

Yes. We work however your team uses ACC, now Autodesk Forma. Usually we build a separate storage model that links into your architectural model, and we can also use Design Collaboration or any other ACC workflow.

How do I get AIA continuing education credit?

Request one of our free, one-hour courses, presented at your firm or online. Each is worth 1 AIA LU|HSW and is IDCEC approved. See Continuing education courses.

Purchasing and specifying

I’m considering a product for our project. Who can I talk to?

Our sales team. Send a message through the contact form with the product and your project details.

How do I buy a product I found in Fetch?

If the product can be bought online, its page on fetchbim.com has a Buy now button that takes you to our sister site, StoreMoreStore. For anything else, or a quote for your project, contact our sales team through the contact form.

How do I add a product to my specification?

Download the product’s CSI specification from the ⋮ menu on its card in the Fetch app and add it to your project manual. To make SSG the basis of design, reference the model number and contact information in the specs and on the elevations, so your general contractor provides what your client expects. Fetch families also carry MasterFormat, UniFormat and OmniClass classifications for tagging. See Documents and specs.

Can we buy through a purchasing contract?

Yes. SSG holds cooperative contracts including OMNIA Partners, Sourcewell, Equalis Group and Vizient, plus many state and university contracts. Ask our sales team whether yours applies.

If I put your content in my project, do I have to buy from SSG?

No. Use Fetch families on any project. We’d be glad to help you complete it if you’d like.

Account and privacy

Will my information be shared?

No. Fetch is made by Southwest Solutions Group, and your information stays with SSG. We use it to run your account, tell you about updates and help with your projects. We don’t sell it or pass it to other companies. See our privacy policy.
