Retail In Store Pickup Lockers are a laminate smart locker bank for customers collecting online orders at a retail location without a staffed handoff. The 84-inch-wide, 24-inch-deep, 76-inch-high bank combines five Adder with Access Laminate Smart Parcel Locker units and one Kiosk with Access Laminate Smart Parcel Locker, providing a dedicated self-service collection point for stores managing a varied mix of order sizes. Its mix of door sizes lets staff assign an appropriate compartment when an order is ready. After loading an order, store personnel can notify the customer by text, email, or app notification. The customer retrieves the order at a convenient time, including after hours, using the supplied code, barcode, or RFID scan; the correct access method opens the assigned door. One touchscreen and integrated remote-management software support pickup-order management, and controller software can integrate with BOPIS and other systems with API access. The touchscreen is installed at a height that accommodates people with disabilities. Coordinate one 110V connection within 10 ft. of the touchscreen, with a dedicated 110V, 20-amp circuit preferred, plus an RJ-45 wall jack for internet access; wired networking is preferred over wireless. Maintain at least 2 in. of clearance between the locker bank and wall, and do not install a soffit above the lockers where it would limit service access.

Retail smart lockers allow customers to shop online and pick up their order whenever is most convenient for them without an attendant or even after hours. Customers can shop and checkout in their web browser or in an app and specify in-store pickup. Once an employee has gathered their order together and the items are placed in a locker, the customer will be automatically notified via text, email, or app notification and can then access their locker at any time with the supplied code or barcode. Locker systems can be infinitely expanded to fit any size campus size. Locker units can be installed indoors or outdoors with the optional canopy to protect from rain and weather. Temperature-controlled lockers can also be added to any parcel locker configuration to provide convenient heated or cooled compartments.

Physically, the smart locker systems consist of a bank of modular lockers, with one of the lockers dedicated to housing the system hardware and power supply. A typical bank of parcel lockers is comprised of columns, with each column consisting of either six small lockers per column, a mixture of five or six small and medium lockers per column, or two large lockers per column. Each column features a proprietary locking raceway that incorporates the required number of smart locking devices for the number of lockers in each column. Electronic locker systems are available in a variety of finishes to complement or match the environments in which they are installed.
